Government investigate how to improve foster care

Published on in Fostering News

The Department for Education has launched a stocktake and consultation on current foster care provision to investigate how it can be improved.

They welcome views from anyone including, most particularly, children in care and children and adults previously in care, and past and current foster carers.

The aim of this review is to build a comprehensive picture of what the fostering system looks like in England and where and how it could be improved to achieve ambitious outcomes for children. The review will help the government to improve their understanding of current provision and how placements are made, where the system works well and what can be learned nationally from good practice.

Further information about the stocktake can be found here, and you can email your response to Stocktake.FOSTERING@education.gov.uk.
