Fostering in Yorkshire
Want to join our fostering team of almost 40 families in Yorkshire? While our head office is based in Stockport, our team of social workers and foster carers extends all the way across to Hull. We're looking for carers to join our family, especially in and around Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Hull, Sheffield, Scunthorpe, Goole, and most areas in between!
Our Yorkshire region is split into Yorkshire East and Yorkshire West. Whichever team you fall under, your social worker will be on hand 24/7 and live absolutely no more than an hour away from you. We make sure you have support as locally as possible! Get in touch now to start your journey.
Meet the team
My name is Kate, I‘m a Foster Care Development Worker at Parallel Parents. I am new to the team and am looking forward to developing in my new role.
I have spent the last 22 years working directly with children and their families which includes Looked After children in residential settings, and in frontline Child Protection teams. I have enjoyed all of my different roles and met some amazing children and families which I hold very fond memories of.
It will be a privilege to be able to work in partnership with foster carers and support them in what is both a challenging and rewarding role - providing vulnerable children with nurturing, safe, and stable care where they can build happy memories that will last a lifetime.
In my own time I like to be with my four legged family which includes my small and happy herd of horses and my cat Stuey.
Hi, my name is Shannon and I’m one of the supervising social workers in the Yorkshire West team, and I joined Parallel Parents fresh out of qualifying as a social worker in 2019. I’ve previously worked within the care sector, as well as in semi-independence residential homes prior to qualifying, and since being in my role with Parallel Parents, I have also worked within Care Today. I have also previously worked as a Local Authority supervising social worker.
I have so many fond memories of my work with children and foster carers, have had the pleasure of supervising many foster carers, both new and experienced, and I’ve completed many Form F assessments.
I thoroughly enjoy my role with Parallel Parents, particularly seeing the amazing work that our foster carers do for the children in their care, and seeing the fantastic progress that they make. I love seeing new applicants going through their assessment, going through Panel, and going on to be exceptional foster carers who strive to support vulnerable children and provide safe, loving homes where children can thrive. I have built some amazing relationships with my colleagues and foster carers throughout my time at Parallel Parents so far, and have very fond memories of supporting foster carers through both challenging and rewarding times.
In my own time alongside my role at the agency, I love camping, climbing mountains, and rock climbing! Me and my cocker spaniel like to go on lots of walks and adventures together
