Phew! Is it just me, or is it getting hot in here?
Hello all, Bizzy Bear here, and I am currently chilling out in the shade after the most incredible, sun-soaked day at the Mirfield Community Gardens Fun Day!

The weather forecast wasn't kidding—it was a whopping 32°C out there! Maybe I shouldn't of worn my hoody, and my fur coat was feeling a little extra thick, but a bit of sunshine wasn't going to stop this bear from joining the party. And what a party it was!
The gardens were absolutely buzzing when I arrived, and it felt just like a massive family reunion. Everywhere I looked, people were mingling and laughing. We had local families from the community dropping in, children in foster care having a blast with their amazing foster families, and plenty of friendly faces from our fantastic Manchester team of Social Workers and Support Workers. Even the wonderful staff from Care Today, our residential children’s home company, came along to join the festivities! The best part about the whole day was just watching everyone interact so naturally. There were no boundaries.. Except to not stand on the flowers.. just one big, happy community soaking up the summer vibes together.

Of course, a proper fun day needs plenty of entertainment, and the event was packed with awesome things to do. I wandered over to the arts and crafts table to see some seriously creative masterpieces being made..The children claimed they were making masks.. I think they were making B's for Bizzy..
Outside on the grass, the games were in full swing. I cheered on the kids playing a giant outdoor version of Snakes and Ladders, which is much harder when your little like me and actually have to hop from square to square! There was also a super popular Fishing for Fish game. I kept a close eye on that one... you know how much bears love fish! And of course, all that playing works up an appetite. Luckily, the team kept everyone fueled with delicious hot dogs and plenty of snacks to keep our energy up in the heat.
Amidst all the games and hot dog scoffing, something really beautiful was happening. I noticed so many local people sitting down on the bench's with our experienced foster carers, asking the real questions and getting true, honest insights into what life is actually like in a fostering household. It was amazing to see people being so open and eager to learn. I even got to use my own bear-skills to chat with some of the locals myself! I had some lovely chats explaining the incredible, round the clock support that Parallel Parents offers to our fostering families, and I helped guide a few enthusiastic local people on how they can take those first exciting steps to start their own application process.
By the time the sun started to dip, I was hot, a little bit sweaty, and my heart was completely full of joy. Seeing our foster families, the Manchester team, the Care Today staff, and the local community all blending together so naturally was just magical. It reminded me that fostering isn't just about a single household.. It's about the massive network of support surrounding every child.
A huge thank you to everyone who came down, shared a laugh, and made the day so special. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go find a giant bowl of ice water to dip my paws into!
Until my next adventure!
Warm (literally!) hugs,
